Teaching Mission Statement from the Society of Conscious Service

In addition to offering weekly Open Circles and Doing the Do Classes, we rent space for classes, workshops, and circles that directly support, education, and assistance of those who wish to bring the tenets of the Society into practice in their daily lives.  The teaching is structured and presented in accordance with the Society's tenets and the instructors' collective teaching experience of more than 14 years.

About the Teachers   

"We have incarnated as human beings on planet Earth now to participate in the evolution of our species into full alignment with Cosmic Law and Conscious Service to the One Light that creates and sustains everything.  Our specific mission is to assist human beings who desire our teachings by providing them with technologies and information that assists them to integrate and utilize all aspects of themselves in alignment with Cosmic Law." --  Carol Steinel & Kumatriel (Kit) Lia Ashera

Carol and Kumatriel (Kit) volunteer weekly to hold Open Circle and Doing the Do Support Class as part of their service to The Society, as well as providing the DNA Talk on a volunteer basis. The Society also contracts with them on a case-by-case basis to provide special classes that Carol and Kumatriel have developed as part of their metaphysical studies curriculum.  Sponsorship of these classes by the Society makes it possible for these teachings to be provided on a widely-available, sliding scale basis for participants (Carol and Kumatriel also make this curriculum available to the public on a contract basis which does not involve the Society of Conscious Service).

Carol and Kumatriel work together as co-teachers.  Both of them identify as “Pleiadian” in terms of their soul source.  Essentially, this means that they each took their first physical incarnation in the star system we see as the “Pleiades” (Seven Little Sisters/M-45).  If you’d like more information about this, consider attending the DNA TALK.

Although those attending class may perceive Carol as the “teacher,” Kumatriel (Kit) and Carol are delighted to act as a team to create both the space and the material that fills it.  They co-create classes, determine what to teach, and hone and refocus the material to fit students’ needs and the energies of the times. They are both involved in administrative and organizational tasks for preparation of contract classes, as well as many other Society of Conscious Service activities and functions. For example, Carol is the computer genius (she volunteered to create this amazing website!), and Kumatriel (Kit) is temple-keeper (also on a volunteer basis) . Both are dedicated to being living, breathing demonstrations of all of the teachings they bring.                                            [Top]

        During classes and circles, Carol sits in the North, the place of the active teacher. She channels Carruch (more about how Carol and Carruch work together HERE) and transmits the teaching materials, both through speech and what Carruch calls “resonant download” (directly through the resonance of her/their presence in the room). Carol’s vibrant presence, lively sense of humor, and down-to-earth approach add up to a highly engaging and effective teaching style.

       Kumatriel (Kit) "sits South", providing an energetic container for the gathering. As Carruch says, “You need a pot to make soup in.”

Kumatriel (Kit)’s essential “soup-pot” resonance assists Carol in her transmission of the teaching and helps hold the energy of the group mind.

Kumatriel (Kit) also monitors psychic hygiene, keeping things clean on numerous levels, and enjoys the care and feeding of our teaching allies: crystals, candles, and cats.

What We Offer You

The classes that we offer are designed to assist you in harnessing your personal power, and integrating spiritual principles in your day-to-day life.  These classes are not "therapy", although many students report that these classes have enabled them to deal with issues which they were not able to resolve in a therapeutic setting (see "Guestbook" if you wish to see some of the feedback our students have left).  

We work consistently to empower students to learn how to access their own guidance, and do not seek to keep them as "perpetual students".  It is our greatest hope that at some point, our teaching will be irrelevant, as humanity evolves and this knowledge is assimilated and held in common.  

This work is transmitted through a combination of information sharing which illuminates the order and structure of living as a Spirit in flesh, and the channeling of assignments which move the student into exercise of those faculties which they possess but may not have consciously developed.  This transmission is not about little adjustments.  It is not about altering the things you perceive as "wrong" about you.  It is not about feeling "high" for an evening or a weekend.  It is nothing less than the outrageous demand for you to being living as the Being you truly are -- to live each moment in passion, grace, and glory.

Depending on your area of interest, we offer: 

• Classes which facilitate "Life Mastery" (the ability to fully embrace yourself and utilize the full extent of all your capabilities)

• Classes which build Psychic Skills (which are inherent in all beings) and enable you to use these abilities in a more conscious fashion

• Classes which develop and enhance your ability to Relate, Communicate, and Connect with others in ways which are functional and sustainable

• Classes which are designed to attune you to the Current Potential of Human Evolution

You may audit any class that you have previously attended.  We do ask that you let us know in advance that you plan to audit a class (you must register by any stated registration date), and, if you are auditing a series of courses (such as Masters I, II, or III) you must commit to the full series

Class Agreements and Etiquette (What We Request of You)

1. Pre-requisites:  

   1. We require all students to complete “Psychic Hygiene” prior to attending any other classes, regardless of their previous length of practice or experience --  Why?

      1. Safety:  Psychic Hygiene gives students essential information about resonance and energy to assist them in managing the shifts which often occur when raising frequency/resonance through spiritual study.

      2. Common Language:  Psychic Hygiene covers basic energetic and chakric principles which assists the shared understandings of students and teachers in future work.

      3. Ensuring Energetic Hygiene as the Work Continues:  By imparting our understanding of what creates or erodes sustainable energy exchange, we find that we can more easily work with students in a functional and sustainable manner as they progress with classes.

   2. We require additional pre-requisites for some classes.  Please check the pre-requisites listed in the class description for the class you want to attend, or at Current Classes.

2. Exchange:  We request that students make some form of energy exchange with the Society when attending weekly Doing the Do classes or other donation-based classes (as distinguished from fee-based classes).  Most often, this is in the form of money, and we do request that you donate to the Society monetarily if it is possible for you.  Carruch says that giving something from your energy (cash donation/work/etc.) makes a space in you for the teaching to go into.  Basically, events are offered on either a donation or fee basis, as described below:

1. Weekly Open Circle and Doing the Do class are offered by free-will donation.  A suggested donation range is usually suggested, but there is no requirement to make donation.  We also offer some special classes by donation from time to time.  Information about whether the event is donation-based or fee-based, and the suggested donation or sliding scale fee range is clearly listed for each event on the "Current Classes" page, under the donation/fee column.

2. When we offer special classes and workshops at the SCS temple other than Open Circle and Doing the Co, these classes are usually offered on a sliding scale, fee-based format.  If this is the case, this is clearly noted on the "Current Classes" page under the Donation/Fee column.  The Fee charged for these classes is a sliding scale range, and payment arrangements made be made, but only in advance, and by agreement of the teacher(s).

3. The Etiquette of "Sitting as a Student":  

1. Teacher/Student Agreement:   We assume that you are attending class because you believe (or hope) that we have information or techniques which you do not currently possess.  We consider that those presenting the class or workshop are your teachers during the course of classwork, but they will not offer advice to you outside of that context unless you make a direct request for it.

2. Questions are welcome in class, and we encourage you to "test" the information which you receive to determine its validity by doing the exercises, practicing the techniques, and completing the homework included with classes.  While we welcome inquiry that is presented with the purpose of improving understanding or assimilation, we do not engage in "debate" or "argument" about the information.

3. Commitment to coursework and respect for teachers and other students:

   1. Prerequisites:  Please check the Class Description for the class(es) you are interested and be sure you have attended any pre-requisite courses.

   2. If you register for a series of classes, you agree to attend all of them unless you make arrangements prior to the beginning of the series.  In case of emergency, we can sometimes provide a tape of the class (see below) so that students who miss a class can keep up with the material.

   3. Please be on time for classes.

   4. Arrive with attention for the class and respect the time of other students by staying on theme.

   5. Please arrive free of strong scents or perfumes for the comfort and safety of all.

   6. Understand that the techniques do not work unless they are applied.  In other words, Do Your Homework!

   7. If something is troubling you about the class, please approach one of the teachers at a break to discuss it.

   8. Confidentiality -- Because information shared by students in classes may be of a personal nature, we ask that students hold such information in confidentiality.  It's fine to speak about what transpires in classes at the level of principle, but please respect other students by refraining from revealing information that would identify them personally.  

4. Study Helps:  (Important -- Please Read!)

   1. Most classes include handouts, but bring pen and paper to class so that you can make additional notes.

   2. We do tape many classes, and you may purchase reproductions at a cost of $15 per tape or CD.  Any money given for tapes/cds may not be considered as a donation.  Tapes are provided only for students who have attended the class.  We require that you do not supply these tapes (or handout materials) to  those who have not attended class.  This is not in order to be "proprietary" about the information.  Our reasons for this policy are two-fold:

      1. We have found that some information, taken outside of the greater context (for example, without understanding of Cosmic Law, energy exchange, etc.) has the potential to be confusing or even detrimental.  This is the reason we teach some courses in a specific order (i.e.. Masters 1, 2, & 3), and why we require Psychic Hygiene before any other course.

      2. We recognize that there is an important component of the teaching which has to do with the resonant download which occurs in a specific group of people (those of you who have audited the same class again will notice that Carruch teaches "to the consciousness of the room", and classes may be presented very differently, depending on who is present).  For this reason, we ask that, rather than just give others these materials, you encourage them to attend a teaching.  (It's fine for you to relate what you have learned in these classes from a personal perspective, as this constitutes a resonant download from you!)

      3. If you are really excited about the information in a specific class and wish to share it with others, please encourage them to attend personally!
