To find out if circle is happening in Port Townsend on any given Friday,
either check the Calendar, or the Current Open Circle
Schedule, (if you see a Port Townsend Circle listed at either of these
pages, then Circle is happening in PT) or call (360) 385-1073 and press "1" to
hear the weekly events announcement,
Each
week, we hold "Open Circle".
It is a wonderful opportunity to gather with others to acknowledge our spiritual connection, gain new insights, and ask about the issues and questions we are dealing with in our lives. It is often a good way for people to
begin exploration of the teachings of the Society and Carruch.
During Circle, Carol sits to channel Carruch and also offers psychic and spiritual information to those who bring specific questions.
Kumatriel (Kit) sits to hold the energy-integrity of the group
(see "the soup-pot"). Carol and
Kumatriel (Kit) provide these services
on a volunteer basis as part of their work with the Society, and all donations
received directly benefit the Society.
Open Circle in Port Townsend may run anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hours in length.
Circles held when we are traveling sometimes run longer, but usually no more
than 3 hours. We begin by reading
an
invocation aloud together and
then there is a brief check-in from the participants (for check-in a simple introduction is fine, but
you may also briefly mention concerns you have been pondering with the intention that Carruch address these in his teaching). You may hear folks in circle end their check-in with "Ho!" and hear others repeat this. This is an honoring of the traditional Souix saying "hau mitakuye oyas'in" (all my relations). We use it to say "I'm done now" so that others know when he have finished our
check-in ("I'm done now" is also just fine).
Carruch then teaches extemporaneously for around 45 minutes to an hour, and then questions
(both personal and general) are usually asked and answered. Level of participation is the sole choice of each participant.
Personal questions are welcome in the circle. However, if you have a lot of personal questions, or questions which you don't wish to ask in a public venue, you may wish to schedule a
private reading with Carol and
Carruch.
The tone of Open Circle is casual and often light-hearted. Depending on the length of the circle and the numbers involved, there may or may not be a break.
Most people who attend comment that they enjoy the connection which they
experience with others, and the empowering nature of the information.
Many people prefer to have a suggestion as to an appropriate donation amount. For Port Townsend weekly circle, we suggest $5 - 20/person based on your ability to contribute (consider the price you would pay for a weekly yoga
class). When we are traveling, we suggest $20-30/person, to help cover the cost of travel and
accommodations. If you cannot donate money, consider an offering of flowers or
candles for the temple space. An exchange of energy from you creates space in you for the teaching to be received.
